Pulaski, Tennessee…..Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Pulaski officials announce the addition of orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Derek Riley to the medical staff.
“The addition of Dr. Riley to our healthcare team and to the community is a big win for everyone”, said interim hospital CEO, Harold Siglar. “The availability of orthopedic care is so important because it affects all ages and most of the time the need is immediate. Dr. Riley was highly recruited by several hospitals. He and his family made several trips to Pulaski during the recruitment process and we want to thank our hospital staff , local business leaders, and Giles County residents for the warm welcome shown to them during that time.”
Dr. Riley is a graduate of Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. He received his medical degree from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his surgical and orthopaedic internship and residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. During this time Dr. Riley was involved in several presentations and publications on topics such as new techniques in ACL reconstruction, perioperative stroke and total joint arthroplasty, shoulder examination review, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, and more.
“Dr. Riley seems very excited to open his practice in Pulaski,” continued Siglar. “He wants to get involved in the community and develop relationships with local business and industry leaders, local athletic coaches in the school system and recreational programs, churches, senior programs, whoever can benefit from having an orthopaedic surgeon locally.”
Siglar also announced Dr. Riley’s wife, Dr. Cara Riley will be joining the STRHS Pulaski medical team in August after the completion of her obstetrics fellowship this summer. She specializes in family medicine and obstetrics.
