Hospitals Plan Go Red Events for February

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System is hosting events to create awareness of heart disease in women. Heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year. In fact, a woman dies of heart disease every minute in the United States, according to the American Heart Association.
The Lawrenceburg event will be held at the First Baptist Church, 2100 Springer Road with cardiologist, Dr. Daniel Skarzynski as the guest speaker. Dr. Barry Allen will present the program at the First National Bank in Pulaski, and cardiologist, Dr. Roderick Meese will speak at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Winchester located at 200 2nd Avenue NW.
Southern Tennessee Regional Health System will also provide free cholesterol screenings at each of the locations before the breakfast from 7am until 8am and those interested should not eat for at least eight hours before the screenings for best results.
Those attending the events will receive information regarding eating a heart healthy diet, the early signs of a heart attack, and what one should do if they believe someone is having a heart attack.
